Born in Amsterdam in 1928, Andries Van Onck was a Dutch designer who spent a lot of his career based in Italy. He studied Industrial Design at the Royal Dutch Academy at The Hague from 1952 to 1954, before moving to Germany to advance his education at the Hochschule fur Gestaltung. He then started his career working as a designer for Olivetti in Italy.
In 1965, Andries founded his own design studio in Milan where, with his wife Hiroko Takeda, he developed numerous design projects for companies in Italy and abroad, and received a variety of awards for them. Andries and Hiroko van Onck took part in numerous international exhibitions, and their products are included in the permanent design collections of various museums around the world.
