Marco Dessí was born in Merano in 1976. After studying as a dental technician, Dessí decided to pursue a new career. He moved to Vienna where he worked in a lab creating models and prototypes for architects and designers. This work fascinated Dessí, leading him to study Industrial Design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. After completing his studies, he decided to remain in Vienna, valuing the artisan tradition still found in the city.
In 2008, Marco Dessí founded STUDIO DESSí, where he works on furniture and lighting designs for clients around the world. He created the Cima “suspended” lamp for the lighting brand Lodes. The innovative design was inspired by the function of jam cleats in sailing boats, resulting in a sleek and highly functional design. Dessí draws inspiration from his roots for his designs: the “emotionally Mediterranean and rationally Alpine.” The resulting products convey a clear idea while creating a sense of emotion.
“In the development process, I take into account the most diverse influences, which are often also contrary. My products develop from this first loose collection of ideas.” - Marco Dessí
