Marset Funiculi A Wall Light
Marset Funiculi A Wall Light is an adjustable wall lamp by Lluís Porqueras, based on his original Funiculi design from 1979. Marset reissued the collection in 2013, retaining the simple construction that made the design so practical. A slender iron stem supports a curved aluminium shade, which can be moved up and down using a double-clip mechanism. The name Funiculi refers to a funicular, reflecting this vertical movement and the straightforward way the lamp can be adjusted.
The wall light works particularly well beside a bed, desk, or reading chair, where the position of the light may need to change. The shade can be raised or lowered along the stem and rotated through 360 degrees, allowing the beam to be directed towards a book, work surface, or nearby wall. This also means Funiculi can be used for more general reflected light when direct illumination is not needed. Its narrow structure takes up little room on the wall, making it useful in smaller bedrooms, studies, and reading areas.
Funiculi A is made from lacquered iron and aluminium, with a black electrical cable and an in-line on/off switch. It is available in six finishes: Moss Grey, Off-White, Black, Green, Terracotta, and Mustard. The stronger colours draw attention to the curved shade and simple structure, while the neutral finishes offer a quieter appearance. The wider Funiculi collection includes matching table and floor lamps, along with fabric-shade versions. Most suited to bedrooms, bedside areas, living rooms, reading corners, home offices, desks, hotel rooms, and interiors where an adjustable wall light can provide practical reading or task lighting.
