Marset Funiculi S Table Lamp
Marset Funiculi S Table Lamp is an adjustable table light by Lluís Porqueras, originally designed in 1979 and reissued by Marset in 2013. Porqueras approached design by removing anything he considered unnecessary, and Funiculi reflects that idea through its simple construction. A circular iron base supports a slender stem and an aluminium shade that can be moved up and down. The shade can also rotate through 360 degrees, allowing the direction of the light to be changed without moving the lamp itself.
Funiculi S works well on a desk or bedside table, where the adjustable shade allows the light to be directed towards a book, work surface, or nearby wall. The double clamp mechanism makes it easy to change the height of the shade, while its ability to rotate means the lamp can provide both focused reading light and more general illumination. Its compact structure takes up relatively little room on a table, making it useful for smaller desks, shelves, and bedside areas where a larger task lamp might be difficult to accommodate.
The lamp is made from lacquered iron and aluminium, with a rubber-wrapped base and a black electrical cable with an in-line on/off switch. Funiculi S is available in six finishes: Moss Grey, Off-White, Black, Green, Terracotta, and Mustard. The stronger colours bring more attention to the simple shape, while the neutral finishes offer a more understated appearance. Most suited to home offices, desks, bedside tables, reading corners, living rooms, bedrooms, studios, and hotel rooms where a small adjustable table lamp is needed.
