Marset Funiculi Collection is a range of adjustable table, floor, and wall lamps by Lluís Porqueras, originally designed in 1979 and later reissued by Marset. Porqueras believed in removing unnecessary details from everyday objects, an approach that can be seen in Funiculi's simple metal structure and practical adjustment mechanism. The name comes from the word funicular, referring to the movement of the shade up and down the central stem. The original metal shade can also rotate through 360 degrees, allowing the light to be directed where it is needed.
The collection includes the original Funiculi lamps with lacquered aluminium shades, alongside the later Funiculi Fabric range, introduced in 2018. The metal versions provide directional light for reading, working, or illuminating a particular area, while the fabric shades allow more light to pass through the material, giving a softer, more diffused output. Both designs are available as table, floor, and wall lamps. The table versions work well on desks and bedside tables, while the floor and wall lamps can be positioned beside sofas, armchairs, or beds.
The original Funiculi is available in Moss Grey, Off-White, Black, Green, Terracotta, and Mustard, with the metal shade and structure finished in the same colour. The Fabric versions use a black lacquered iron structure with either a White or Sand polyester shade. All models are plug-in, with an in-line on/off switch, and the adjustable shade height remains a feature throughout the collection. Most suited to bedrooms, living rooms, home offices, desks, reading corners, lounges, and hotel rooms where practical lighting and simple, functional design are important.
